Deadly lethal…

  What’s with this obsession that martial arts have to be the deadliest, most lethal? Human life is a fragile thing, it’s not as if there aren’t enough deadly lethal things around. If you look at the statistics, traffic is way more deadly than even the deadliest martial art.

So don’t bother about BJJ, or MMA or karate, just go jump in your car.

The point of a martial art should be how “safe” it is -that is how well it can prepare you to bring about the safest outcome from a potentially deadly threat or situation. That should be the focus…

I guess my point is, not to get bogged down with how “deadly” your martial art is, or go round boasting, or thinking your martial has some superior set of skills and techniques, and often this is how martial arts are marketed. Instead, view it with more sober judgment and understand that it brings many different benefits -fitness, esteem, values, some skills etc…
